As 2024 draws to a close, we've decided to relive some of Opinel's most memorable moments of the year.

Our partnerships

Since 2024, we've been supporting Itzel Marie Diaz, a journalist from Savoie with a passion for sailing! She spent a year at sea at a rate of knots! ». This summer, she qualified for the Mini Transat race and also won the Planet Perf prize for her eco-responsible project.

At the same time, we've been supporting the Sylv'ACCTES charity, set up to encourage and support responsible forest management that meets ecological, social and economic challenges. Thanks to contributions from local authorities, corporate sponsors, private individuals, forestry partners and nature conservation associations, the charity helps forests adapt to climate change. We are proud to be a sponsor and to support the charity in their Alpine forest work, particularly in the Vercors, where the beech used to make our handles is sourced.

Les sorties de l'année

The Barbecue Set

The year got off to a cracking start with the launch of 2024's flagship product: the Barbecue Set, an innovative Made in France product! Cleverly designed and durable, it's inspired by our mountains and comprises 3 essential utensils: the N°12 B knife with a bottle opener at the end of the handle, the spatula + which slides into the knife's handle, and the XL tongs with a handy notch at the end of the handle to lift the grill. It's a timeless set for fun shared times.

The Etuis France Collection

Accessory-wise, the new holders designed by the Big Game design studio have replaced the previous collection. Made in France using environmentally-friendly materials (regenerated leather and R-PET felt, an ecological material derived from the processing of waste leather fibres & substances of plant origin), they are part of a greener, more environmentally-friendly approach.

The Sylve forks

The Table collection has grown with the addition of the Sylve forks that celebrate Opinel's roots. Simple, warm and timeless, they come in three types of wood (light ash, olive and dark ash) to suit any ambience and match the Facette & Bon Appétit table knife collections.

The N°09 Cime

No. 09 “CIME” evokes summits, mountain peaks and the crests of waves through a blend of three woods in contrasting colours: black walnut, ash and sycamore maple.

As a new addition to the Luxe collection of pocket knives, it once again highlights the craftsmanship of our wood workshop.

Les Essentiels cooks' collection

These small kitchen knives' handles are sporting new colours!

The Paysage range includes comprises paring knives, serrated knives, vegetable knives, peelers and butter knives. It's inspired by a distant landscape that's both contrasting and invigorating, with five new colours: blue, red, sage, khaki and violet.

A new Les Essentiels du Cuisinier box set was also launched: Les Essentiels Pop 80. It pays homage to an effervescent design decade and showcases exuberant, flashy colours: the clean blue paring knife, the lemon serrated knife, the raspberry vegetable knife and the turquoise peeler.

L'olivier à l'honneur

This year, the olive tree was given pride of place with 4 flagship products.

The Trio Parallèle set has been reinvented with olive wood handles to create a warm, timeless range. As has the Parallèle N°116 bread knife and its uniquely grained olive wood handle that's comfortable to hold.

An olive wood handle has also been used for the Fromage Set knife, a must for cutting and serving cheese at the table during your gatherings. Finally, the La table au Soleil box set celebrates the olive tree by bringing together 4 Sylve forks and 4 Bon Appétit knives featuring this type of wood for a harmonious and unique table setting.

Opinel is now PEFC-certified

At the end of 2023, Opinel applied for PEFC certification and after an audit at the beginning of 2024, the company obtained certification for beech and hornbeam.

For the past 25 years, PEFC has promoted sustainable forestry in 56 countries. In France, over ⅓ of the forests and ⅔ of wood production are PEFC certified.

Thanks to this certification, Opinel can promise all owners of Opinel beech and hornbeam knives that the wood used comes from sustainably managed forests in the Vercors and Jura regions.

On Thursday, 10th October, Opinel officially received PEFC certification at an event held at the Opinel premises in Chambéry, which brought together key players from PEFC France, PEFC Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Opinel.

"Our certification confirms our commitment to the environment, which is also very important to our customers." - François Opinel, Chairman of Opinel.

The Essentiels + collection now has recycled plastic handles!

There's something new in the Essentiels + collection!

These 3 practical, efficient must-have kitchen knives now use rPP recycled plastic made from recycled industrial waste.

Their manufacture generates 90% fewer CO2 emissions and limits crude oil consumption.

An "à la française" collab!

To mark Bernardaud's 150th anniversary, Opinel has teamed up with this famous French company to create table knives with porcelain handles. These unique pieces feature a Kintsugi design by the artist Sarkis.
