At the beginning of 2022, we expanded our tableware range with a new cutlery collection. Perpétue is our first cutlery collection made entirely from stainless steel. This collection was also the first to feature a cutlery set composed of knives, forks, tablespoons and teaspoons. It's a sweet nod to the Opinel family: Perpétue was the grandmother of the brand's founder, Joseph Opinel. Working alongside her husband, Victor-Amédée, she forged nails in the family's workshop. With its simple, timeless aesthetic and impressive durability, this collection perfectly embodies Perpétue and the brand's roots. Find out more.
On February 24, the live event "Opinel around the table" was held at the company's head office in Chambéry. We took the opportunity to present the company's history and values, as well as our product range, innovations and new releases for the beginning of 2022. Watch the recording of the live event here.

In early spring, our American team, Opinel USA, came to visit us in Chambéry. After years of working together, it was vital that we finally meet and share our professional experience. The trip began with an in-depth tour of the plant, showcasing our teams and expertise. Following that, visits to local stores afforded them a better understanding of the importance of Opinel's heritage and the significance it holds for so many. The trip ended with a visit to the original workshop and the museum in Saint-Jean-de Maurienne. Loads of energy and memories to share with our US clients!
Our classic No. 08 blade once again sports a new type of wood: snakewood. This is a limited edition.
This wood comes from Guyana and has a unique grain with light and dark tones reminiscent of a snake's skin.
Simple, sturdy and effective, this limited series knife features an 8.5 cm blade with a polyglaze finish and an oiled wooden handle. Made in France.

Designed by Jacques Opinel, founder of the Opinel Museum, this free 16 km trail was inaugurated during the summer. Visitors can now view Opinel's largest knife as well as the remnants of the very first Opinel workshop. Although Opinel knives have been manufactured near Chambéry since 1916, the Opinel family has always remained firmly attached to its roots. Opinel and its museum are extremely proud to have opened this new tourist trail, leading straight to the birthplace of the famous knife: the Opinel Trail. Find out more

Learn more about artist Julien Roche, with whom we struck up a collaboration for this Christmas 2022.
"The collaboration came following the Casse-croûte cooking festival in Chamonix. I was responsible for the visual identity of the event, of which Opinel is a partner. I imagined a "pop-up" house, in the vein of advent calendars and Christmas chocolate boxes. The idea of a "house of knives" developed naturally: inside the house are several rooms, featuring scenes of everyday life involving Opinel blades: eating, cooking, harvesting, sawing wood..."
