Table Chic Bernardaud porcelain table knives

A collab between two French family businesses, who are proud of their expertise and keen to pass it on.

Opinel and Bernardaud have joined forces to create table knives with porcelain handles. A complex combination of porcelain and steel, softness and sharpness, sensuality and strength. Unique pieces with incomparable charm.

Kintsugi effect

The artist Sarkis chose a Kintsugi effect for his table knives. This is a 16th-century Japanese technique that involves making visible repairs to ceramics using a mixture of lacquer and gold to add to their striking appearance.

5 finishes

This collab resulted in five unique table knives: the Kintsugi Charbon silver blade, the Kintsugi Charbon gold blade, the Kintsugi Charbon black blade, the Kintsugi Blanc silver blade and the Kintsugi Blanc gold blade.

About Bernardaud

Bernardaud is a French porcelain manufacturer founded in Limoges in 1863. The company designs furniture, lighting and objects that bring simple luxury to everyday life.

Looking after your knives

These table knives' blades are made from high-carbon stainless steel. If you wash them by hand, avoid abrasive sponges that could scratch the blade's surface, and also dry the knife straight away. If you use a dishwasher, select a low temperature setting and then dry the knives if they are still slightly wet at the end of the cycle. Using a dishwasher may leave slight traces of oxidation on the blade, which can be removed by rubbing it with a cloth soaked in slightly warmed white vinegar. Finish by rinsing and drying the knife.
